The critical role of natural gas in achieving Mexico’s long-term energy security

  • What are the main challenges surrounding the production of natural gas in Mexico? Are the challenges being addressed with a long-term, self-sufficient scenario in mind?
  • What has been the impact on supply of the Marino Sur Pipeline and Wahalajara?
  • Infrastructure development: What is the status of new projects? What have we learned through the renegotiation of pipeline contracts? 
  • Gas storage in the horizon: The public policy announced in March 2018 obliges CENAGAS to have by 2022 enough gas stored to cover a minimum of three days of national consumption. With a current supply in gas storage of 1.5 days, is this goal realistic? How is CENAGAS approaching this matter? Could collaboration between CENAGAS and the private sector shape the way forward? 
  • What are the benefits resulting from the commercialization of natural gas? What are the trends and opportunities of supply and demand of natural gas?
