As Director, U.S. Government Affairs, Steve oversees Cenovus’s political engagement and policy advocacy with federal and state elected officials, regulators, and other stakeholders in the United States.

Steve brings over 20 years of experience working in government affairs in the Washington, D.C. policy arena, including in the areas of energy, environmental policy and fuels-related issues. Prior to joining Cenovus in 2022, Steve spent seven years with Marathon Petroleum Corporation as Federal Government Affairs Manager. Before Marathon, Steve worked at the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers for eight years in various roles, including Outreach Director and Communications Manager. He began his career as a legislative staff member for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
