Vice President, Environmental, NiSource

Kelly leads NiSource’s environmental policy, permitting, compliance and sustainability functions.

NiSource’s natural gas and electric utility companies serve approximately 4 million customers across seven states.

He joined the company in 2001, part of a two-decade career focused on environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Under Kelly’s leadership, NiSource established a nationally recognized sustainability program and leading environmental targets including a 50 percent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 and 90 percent reduction by 2030.

Kelly serves as Board Vice-Chair and Climate Chair for the Indiana Nature Conservancy, President of the Shirley Heinze Land Trust and was appointed by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels to serve on the Indiana Environmental Rules Board.

He earned a master’s degree in environmental engineering and an industrial engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degrees in physics from Illinois State University.
