George S. Pullen
Senior Economist for Division of Market Oversight, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission
George Pullen serves as senior economist with the Division of Market Oversight at the CFTC, specializing in energy derivatives. Mr. Pullen has over seven years of federal civilian service and over five years with the USMC Reserves. His experiences with the CFTC includes providing economic analysis, consulting, presenting and white papers on: natural gas, oil, refined products, coal, electricity, Bitcoin, data architecture, CDS, swap rulemakings, exchanges, metals and rare earth minerals (REMs). He has also served as advisor to several task forces to include the: HFT Technology Committee, IOSCO Over-the-Counter Derivatives Task Force, Regulatory Data Committee and FinTech Working Group.
Prior to joining the CFTC, Mr. Pullen spent the better part of a decade in a variety of roles in the financial industry as a banker, portfolio manager, broker, investor, and trader working for both large domestic banks and hedge funds. This experience includes managing stocks and options portfolios, trading energy commodities and swaps, as well as advising on large and bespoke private OTC derivatives hedges and asset transactions.
Mr. Pullen holds a GARP certification as an Energy Risk Professional (ERP) and is a member of the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF). He has previously been certified as an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) as well as, previously holding both the Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. Mr. Pullen is a current guest lecturer at the Eisenhower School (War College) Strategic Materials senior officer graduate school.
