J.D. Newsom

Executive Director, Big Bend Conservation Alliance

J.D. Newsom is the Executive Director of the Big Bend Conservation Alliance whose mission is to conserve the living heritage and unique natural and cultural resources of the greater Big Bend region of Texas. J.D. holds a BA from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in International Law from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, México. He works throughout Far West Texas advocating for the protection of dark skies, scarce water resources, land conservation, and preserving the unique beauty of the greater Big Bend region. J.D. and his family live in Alpine, Texas.
