Bruce Baizel

Bruce Baizel has been General Counsel and Director of the Compliance and Enforcement Division at the New Mexico Environment Department since 2020.  Over the prior 35 years, he practiced law representing private and public clients in the areas of forest management, endangered species, real estate, hazardous waste and oil and gas.  He has presented at numerous legal seminars and conferences on issues related to shale gas development in the US and Canada.  For eight years, he was the Public/Environmental Representative on the Board of Directors of the State Review of Oil & Natural Gas Environmental Regulations.  He also served on the New Mexico Governor’s Technical Advisory Panel on Methane and on Methane and the Pit Rule task force.
