Danielle Sugarman is a Director with BlackRock’s Investment Stewardship team. She serves as the lead analyst for BlackRock’s energy, utilities, and pharmaceutical portfolios in the Americas. Danielle’s work includes engagement with executives and directors of BlackRock’s portfolio companies on matters related to corporate strategy, governance, environmental and social matters, M&A considerations, proxy contests and hostile takeover bids. Danielle also votes BlackRock’s shares at corporate annual and special meetings in relation thereto. Danielle has particular expertise in climate change, sustainability and environmental and securities law. Prior to joining BlackRock, she practiced as an attorney for over 10 years, including spending several years at the Center for Climate Change Law out of Columbia Law School. Most recently, Danielle worked as an Associate Program Officer for the Robertson Foundation, working on Julian Robertson’s environmental and medical research giving. Danielle has a JD from Penn Law School and graduated summa cum laude in History and Political Science from Barnard College, Columbia University. She sits on the Advisory Board of EPRI and Kids in Need of Defense.
