Karla Cedano

Dr Karla Cedano Villavicencio is a multidisciplinary academic and leader in the field of Energy and Social Sciences, Innovation, and Sustainability with a Gender Perspective. She holds a Doctorate in Engineering and Applied Sciences, and due to her fascination for knowledge, she has further graduate studies in Genomic Medicine and Computer Sciences. She was born in Mexico City on March 6, 1969, and became a feminist after experiencing sexism and violence in masculinized spaces. Now, alongside her academic work, she is an activist and promoter of gender equality.
Since August 2016, she has been Head of Technology Management and Liaison at the Institute of Renewable Energies at UNAM. Additionally, she is Manager of the Mexican Centre for Innovation in Solar Energy (and co-designer of its Innovation and Knowledge Management System); Coordinator of the Theme Network on Solar Energy; and President of National Association of Solar Energy (ANES). Since February 2021 she is member of the International Women’s Forum.
