Mike Fulton is the SAF Guy.  A FedEx thought leader and innovations expert providing technical, business, and policy guidance on their SAF transformation efforts.  He has over 35 years of aviation industry experience in maintenance, engineering, operations, manufacturing, education, service, and product sales.  Nearly 17 of those years in FedEx’s Technical Air Operations.  And these last 9 years as FedEx’s Chief SAF Guy where he collaborates with emerging SAF suppliers and industry to better communicate airline needs, engage in rigorous systems thinking, and deal with the complexities of uncertainty to uncover opportunity.  To determine what works and what doesn’t work.  Spans a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary research using a holistic, portfolio approach to evaluating supply chain inputs, conversion processes, economics, and value delivery in a world where tracking information about carbon lifecycles is just as important as delivering the carbon molecule itself.  He is a US Navy veteran and has held leadership roles in non-profit, private, and public commercial ventures as an entrepreneur where he has delivered high-yielding financial returns and sales growth.

 

He has a degree in engineering from the University of Memphis where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  A master’s in engineering management from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. He completed two professional programs with Stanford University.  One in Strategic Decision and Risk Management.  The other in Advanced Project/Program Management.  Has a Graduate Certificate in Project Management and is a practicing Project Management Professional (PMP) and Decision Leadership Professional.   A perpetual learner and solutions developer dedicated to expanding and sharing knowledge. And recently in May ’24, he completed a 10-month clean energy program with Yale University.
