Klaus Büttner

Managing Director, Alberta Mexico Office

Klaus Buttner joined the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Province of Alberta, Canada in November 2015. He arrived in Mexico in August 2016 as Managing Director of the Alberta Mexico Office, leading a team of trade and investment professionals based in Mexico City and in Guadalajara.

Klaus is a true internationalist, who has worked and studied in six countries and successfully generated and concluded business in both developed and emerging markets. He has over 15 years of leadership experience in both policy and operational roles in government and in the financial sector, including as Executive Director in the Ministry of International Trade of the Province of British Columbia, Canada; as Minister-Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow; and as Regional Vice-President at Canada’s export credit agency Export Development Canada (EDC).
