John Trischitti III

Executive Director, Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin

Trischitti currently serves as the Executive Director of the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin, an organization committed to promoting the awareness of low literacy and illiteracy, while providing access to family and adult literacy programming. Trischitti served as Director of the Midland County Public Libraries from 2011 to 2019, spearheading the establishment of the Centennial branch and remodel of the Downtown Library during his tenure.

Trischitti is a former Texas Librarian of the Year and is a past recipient of the Rosalind Redfern Library Benefactor Award and Midland 20 under 40. He served on the Texas Library Association’s Bluebonnet Award selection committee and served on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s Library Systems Act Board. He also serves on the city of Midland Airport Board and on the Basin PBS Board of Directors.

Trischitti is a TED Talk presenter on the social impacts of illiteracy. He is a frequent speaker and program presenter across the state on children’s literacy and best practices on management and leadership
