Gürcan Gülen is a senior energy economist with the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Gülen has 22+ years of experience in research, technical assistance, and capacity building across oil, natural gas, and electric power value chains. He has worked with ministries, regulatory agencies, companies, universities and/or NGOs in numerous countries. Since 2010, he has been part of the interdisciplinary BEG team assessing unconventional oil and gas resources in the U.S. He investigated the transition in electric power markets, gas demand in the power and petrochemicals sectors, global gas demand and U.S. LNG exports, and supply chains for lithium and other critical minerals. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston College, and B.A. in Economics from Bosphorus University in Istanbul.
