Alan Townsend

Senior Energy Specialist, World Bank

Alan Townsend is an energy specialist with over 25 years of experience across a broad spectrum of the electricity and natural gas sectors.  Currently, he is responsible for leading the Bank energy team in the Philippines; additionally, he works on gas-to-power issues in other East Asian countries and supports Bank Group work on LNG globally.  He has expertise in regulatory economics, industry restructuring, market design, and private participation.  He has worked in 35 countries, and is particularly specialized in gas-to-power (including all aspects of the LNG industry), renewable energy, and energy utility issues.  He has worked for the World Bank Group for the last 18 years; prior to joining the World Bank Group, he worked in the private sector as an energy sector analyst and consultant for about a decade.
